Going to the Zoo Performance

Room 2 ran the whole school assembly last Friday. We performed 'Going to the Zoo' for everybody.

Yippee we went to the Museum .We went back on a ship wall we did not go on a ship it was in rooms.In the first room it was up stairs and the second room was down stairs.Down stairs there was storage room were they pot there stuff in next to the large room was big bed room with bunk room the bunk were one meter long on the bottom of the bunk one hole family on it.The crow slept on a hammock but not together.The rich people slept on beds that adults sleep on.The rich people got a lot to drink and the poor people did not get much to drink.On the ship was a doctor she helped them get well.There was a big bird in a frame .They were on that ship for five months.

Robyn Belton visited our school last week. She illustrates books like Greedy Cat and Herbert.
She told us how she gets her ideas from real things - like Katie in Greedy Cat was based on her daughter or how she visited the place where Herbert fell into the sea in the sounds. She drew a picture for us. It was amazing.

Junior kiwi sports

On Thursday the juniors went to kiwi sports for fun and exercise. We looked like a green caterpillar walking . There were lots of poeple and games there. It was fun and nobody got lost. When the bell rang it was just like school but there were too many lunchtimes and morningteas. There were obstacle courses and dancing and skipping. It was awesome.

We were fantastic. Everyone had a turn speaking. We sung songs, played guess which teacher, did a fabulous dance and talked about being friends. All our parents were proud of us.

Hi, what a fantastic start to the year. We are a Year 2 class with 21 children.
We are busy swimming and getting to know each other. This week we are leading school assembly.

STICKY ICE SCIENCE

Put an ice cube in a glass full of water. Put wool on top and sprinkle salt on it.
After about two minutes it stuck to the ice cube and we could lift it up by the wool.
The wool sticks onto the ice cube because the salt melts the ice and then it freezes a bit.

STICKY ICE SCIENCE

In Room 2 we have being scientists doing sticky ice experiments. We used salt,ice,water and wool to make an icy string experiment. We got a ice cube and a piece of wool. We made the wool stick to the ice. We could pick it up without touching it.We found out that salt melted the ice cube and it shrunk quicker.
Sophie and Jessica have been making most of it for discovery time today! Our science was cool and Room 2 thought it was cool too.

Last Friday we had to perform in front of assembly. I felt excited and a little bit nervous .The first time I went up I was worried. We sang Waddley Archer, Silly hat store and School is number one.

Beside the swimming pool they are making two new class rooms they are up to putting the wood roofing bit on. They are getting BIG trucks they normally come in at lunchtime.

Rally Cars

Today the rally cars came to school. They told us about their selves and when they were at school. After we went outside we got their autographs and we went in the rally car.

Our school is getting two new class rooms that are being built. They are going to be Room 12 and 13. The builders are getting up on the top of it to put the floor on . We watched them dig up the holes at the start. They had to move the P.E shed, so they could put the class rooms in. They put a fence around what they had been doing! They had a staple gun.

The stick insect

On Monday Lucy brought a humongous stick insect to school. It had little Spiky bits on his back. He had a name, his name Sticky. Lucy called him sticky because his feet were sticky. When he crawls up you it tickles a little bit. It eats lots of green leaves even the end of carrots. Lucy brought him in a container full of branches and leaves.

Ronald McDonald

Today Ronald McDonald came to school, he was teaching us road safety rules in the hall. He told us to look for sneaky drive ways incase a car was coming out of a drive way. Ronald McDonald taught us a song called "make it click", it had actions with it. There was a story to go with the road safety rules. There was a sock that got lost in the wind but all the time it was on his back, then Marcus tugged the sock off Ronald McDonald back. At the start he tried to keep the story stand up but he hadn't connected the corners up together.

We are learning how to listen carefully to instructions and to give clear instructions.
We give instructions to our partner about how to dress the clown. Our partner has to listen carefully and choose the correct piece without looking. Our clowns should be the same when we remove the barrier.

On Tuesday Milly is coming to my house for a play. We will play in my playhouse and we will play in our car in the back garden. When Milly is not here Mum said I can drive the car in the back garden. It will be fun.

ON Saturday I got a trophy and two certificates because I was running real fast and for using my skills. I play in the Appleby Flames. We played the Richmond Magpies. I have my very own shirt. I got it on Saturday. Grandma and Grandad took a photo. I had to put my soccer boots on and shinguard on to protect my feet. We play on field 2. My team got 1 goal and the other team got 7 goals. We lost the game.

On Saturday I played rugby. I got the player of the day. I dived and hurt my leg. We had a draw with Marist. They had a boy big as . The field was small. I was number 20. Everybody gave me the ball. I got the moro bar. We were losing in the first half and then in the second half we came back and it was a draw. Shaun got kicked on the chin he went off the field for half of the game.

I brought a chrysalis and a caterpillar. The Chrysalis changed colour and it turned into a butterfly the caterpillar died.

Lucy's Praying Mantis

On Thursday I took my Praying Mantis to school. It was an African Praying Mantis. Benjamin took his Praying Mantis to school too. He had lots of them. His ones were green but my one was brown. He had a pregnant one, it was fat. He had a New Zealand one, it was fat too.
